Safe lifting. Skilled operations.
Cranes and rigging are essential to modern construction, energy, and industrial projects. Yet, they are also among the most hazardous activities when performed without proper training. At IC&T, our Cranes & Rigging Training equips workers and supervisors with the skills to operate safely, minimize risks, and comply with regulatory standards.
29 CFR 1926.1400 Requires that all crane operators, riggers and signal persons be certified by an ANSI accredited testing organization. For signal persons and riggers employers can offer an employer specific program that meets or exceeds the accredited standard and is audited. We at IC&T meet this stringent requirement. We teach the same class and then can provide the NCCER test or an inhouse test which is less expensive but still offers the same level of training and testing. OSHA further requires that the employer then qualifies each operator for each type of crane. We can provide both the certification and qualification for your workers.
Every year, crane- and rigging-related incidents cause severe injuries, fatalities, and costly project delays. The risks are high: equipment failure, improper load handling, and inadequate communication can have catastrophic consequences.
Training is the critical safeguard. By ensuring workers understand the principles of safe lifting, rigging practices, and regulatory requirements, companies protect their workforce, reduce liability, and keep projects on schedule.
Our programs are built to align with OSHA standards, industry best practices, and employer-specific requirements. Key topics include:
• Rigging Fundamentals – Understanding load weights, sling angles, and rigging hardware.
• Crane Operations – Safe setup, operation, and shutdown procedures.
• Load Handling – Best practices for lifting, moving, and landing loads securely.
• Communication & Signaling – Hand signals, radio communication, and role clarity for crane operators and riggers.
• Inspection Protocols – Daily equipment checks and rigging gear inspection requirements.
• Hazard Identification – Recognizing environmental, mechanical, and human factors that affect lifting operations.
• Crane operators and rigging personnel
• Construction and industrial workers involved in lifting operations
• Supervisors and site managers overseeing crane work
• Safety coordinators responsible for compliance
• Delivery Options – Online instruction, onsite training, or blended approaches.
• Duration – Varies based on experience level and program depth.
• Assessment – Practical evaluations to verify competency in safe lifting and rigging practices.
• Certification – Documentation provided to demonstrate compliance and readiness.
• Industry expertise – Training delivered by industry experts with extensive experience in crane and rigging operations and in training crane operators and riggers.
• Hands-on focus – Emphasis on practical application, not just theory.
• Compliance readiness – Programs aligned with OSHA, MSHA, ANSI, and industry standards.
• Integration with safety ecosystem – Cranes & Rigging training supported by consultation, audits, and specialized programs such as OSHA, MSHA, and site-specific safety plans.
• Nationally recognized Certifications – For those clients that require a nationally recognized certification we offer the NCCER Crane and Rigger Certifications.
Properly trained riggers and crane operators are the difference between safe, efficient projects and costly, dangerous incidents. By investing in Cranes & Rigging Training with IC&T, companies build trust with clients, protect workers, and strengthen their ability to deliver projects on time and on budget.
Safe lifting requires skilled hands and clear knowledge. Ensure your workforce is trained, compliant, and confident.

Yes, we offer online rigging courses that let you train at your own pace. You can log in anytime, review lessons, and complete assessments from anywhere. It’s a convenient way to meet certification requirements without missing work or travel time.
Anyone involved in lifting or moving loads should complete rigging training. That includes crane operators, signal persons, supervisors, maintenance staff, and workers assisting with rigging operations. It’s also ideal for employers who want to improve job site safety and compliance.
Yes, most of our rigging training and certification programs can be completed fully online. The digital format includes interactive lessons, videos, and quizzes designed to make learning easy and effective. Some advanced levels may include a practical evaluation, which can be arranged as needed.
No problem at all. We work with companies of all sizes to provide group training options. Whether your crew needs basic rigging instruction or advanced certification, we can organize sessions that fit your schedule and learning goals.
Absolutely. Our online rigging courses are perfect for employee training. Each participant gets individual access to course materials, progress tracking, and support from our instructors. It’s an easy, cost-effective way to train your team without disrupting your operations.
A qualified rigger has the knowledge and experience to perform rigging tasks safely, but they may not have formal certification. A certified rigger, on the other hand, has completed an accredited training and passed written or practical exams that verify their skills and understanding of industry standards.
Operator certification focuses on safely running cranes and other lifting equipment. Rigger certification is about preparing, securing, and guiding the load during lifts. Both are essential for smooth, safe operations, and many job sites require workers to hold both certifications.
