ABOUT COURSE
OSHA requires that all electrical circuits to be de-energized then locked out, tagged out and tried out prior to performing work. There are some items that cannot be done de-energized. This class which must be taken by any worker who performs justified energized electrical work every three years. This class trains a worker on the process of performing work while energized. Topics include when, who and why circuits can be worked on energized or live, the lockout, tagout and tryout process, the permit process that must be in place and followed, who can authorize energized work, approach distances, safety precautions, qualified workers (journeyman) vs. non-qualified, personal protective equipment, insulated tools and equipment and other safety precautions when performing work on energized equipment.
